Cruise 16.
Aylesbury - Long Itchington .
July 15th - 22nd.
67 Miles, 66 Locks.
Canals- Grand Union.
Station- Aylesbury.
Ascending the Aylesbury arm locks we will rejoin the main line of the Grand Union canal. We will cruise through Leighton Buzzard and Stoke Bruerne with time to visit the wonderful museum. Passing through Blisworth tunnel , we continue to climb Buckby locks, cruising towards Braunston a village steeped in canal history. At Braunston Turn we will for a short time join the Oxford canal before turning at Napton Junction to cruise the Grand Union ,this cruise will end in Long Itchington.
 
Cruise 17.
Warwick - Baswich (Stafford) .
July 29th - August 5th.
57 Miles, 75 Locks.
Canals-G.U, Stratford, Birmingham &Worcs. BCN, Staffs & Worcs.
Station - Warwick.
This cruise is a must for keen lock wheelers, the mighty Hatton flight will be our first challenge on this cruise, at Kingswood junction we will turn onto the Stratford canal and ascend the Lapworth flight. Joining the Worcester and Birmingham canal we will cruise into Birmingham to moor overnight in the city centre. Leaving Birmingham we will cruise the BCN to Dudley, with time to visit the Black Country Museum or the Dudley tunnel. Then we will descend the Wolverhampton flight of narrow locks to join the Staffs and Worcester canal, cruising through Penkridge to Baswich on the outskirts of Stafford where this cruise will end.
 

Cruise 18.
Baswich - Northwich.
August 5th - 12th.
64 Miles, 60 Locks.
Canals - Staffs & Worcs, Trent & Mersey, Weaver.
Station - Stafford .
Leaving Baswich we will cruise to Tixall Wide, a beautiful place to watch birdlife and nature. At Great Heywood Junction we will turn onto the Trent and Mersey canal and cruising northwards. We will go through Harecastle tunnel and then descend Heartbreak Hill to Middlewich. At Anderton we will descend the fantastic Anderton boat lift, surely one of the wonders of the waterways and a great feat of engineering. The cruise will end at Northwich.

 

Cruise 19.
Northwich- Bilsborrow.
 August 12th - 19th.
83 Miles, 25 Locks.
Canals-Weaver, T & M, Bridgewater, Douglas, Ribble, Lancaster.
Station - Northwich.
We will cruise the lovely river Weaver navigation before ascending the Anderton Lift, to join the Trent & Mersey we will then cruise through 3 tunnels before joining the Bridgewater canal at Preston Brook. We will cruise through Worsley to Leigh before joining the Leeds & Liverpool canal.
Leaving Wigan we cruise westwards towards Burscough, turning at the junction to descend the Rufford Arm to Tarleton. We will then cross the tidal rivers Douglas and Ribble, turning into the Millennium Ribble Link to join the Lancaster canal at Preston. The cruise will end at Bilsborrow.

This cruise is subject to tide times and might be amended if necessary.

 

Cruise 20.
Bilsborrow -Lancaster .
August 19th - 26th.
72 Miles, 12 Locks.
Canals - Lancaster .
Station - Preston.
The entire length of the canal will be explored, including Glasson Dock, with time to visit the beautiful cities of Lancaster and Preston, the market town of Garstang and the beautiful rural stretches in between.

 

Cruise 21.
Lancaster - Liverpool.
August 26th - September 2nd.
83 Miles, 22 Locks.
Canals - Lancaster, Ribble, Douglas, Leeds & Liverpool.
Station - Lancaster.
We will explore the Lancaster canal before crossing the tidal waterways back to Tarleton. We will then ascend the Rufford branch locks to rejoin the Leeds & Liverpool canal at Burscough, we will cruise through west Lancashire and Merseyside. The new Liverpool link is expected to be open and we hope to cruise through the docklands of Liverpool.

 
Cruise 22.
Liverpool - Marple .
September 2nd - 9th.
70 Miles, 57 Locks.
Canals-Leeds & Liverpool, Bridgewater, Ashton,Peak Forest.
Station-Liverpool
We will retrace our steps along the Leeds and Liverpool this time continuing to Wigan, there we will turn on to the Leigh branch to join the Bridgewater canal at Leigh. Worsley the birthplace of modern canals is always one of our favourite overnight moorings. Travelling into Manchester we will climb the Rochdale 9 locks before joining the Ashton canal, at Portland basin the home of a fascinating museum we join the Lower Peak forest canal ascending the 16 narrow locks of this lovely canal to Marple where the cruise will end.
 

Cruise 23.
Whaley Bridge- Stoke on Trent. (5 nights).
September 11th - 16th.
39 Miles, 13 Locks.
Canals- Peak Forest, Macclesfield, Trent & Mersey.
Station - Whaley Bridge .
There will be time to explore Bugsworth basin before cruising to Marple, there we will turn on to the Macclesfield canal, always a pleasure to explore this waterway. We will pass through Macclesfield and Congleton, to Hardings Wood junction where we will turn onto the Trent and Mersey canal. A cruise through the atmospheric Harecastle tunnel takes us to Stoke on Trent where this cruise will conclude.

 

Cruise 24.
Stoke - Stafford.
September 16th - 23rd.
64 Miles, 50 Locks.
Canals - Trent & Mersey, Caldon, Staffs & Worcs.
Station -Stoke on Trent.
Leaving Stoke we will cruise to Etruria Junction to join the beautiful Caldon canal, we will cruise to Leek and also the river section to Froghall. Endeavouring to moor at different places on the return journey, there will be time to visit the museum at Etruria. We then carry on down the Trent and Mersey to Great Haywood where we will turn onto the beautiful Staffs and Worcester canal, this cruise ends near Stafford.

 

Cruise 25.
Stafford - Nantwich. (6 nights).
September 23rd - 29th.
58 Miles, 40 Locks.
Canals - Staffs & Worcs, Shropshire Union .
Station - Stafford.
The cruise begins at Baswich near Stafford, we then cruise the beautiful Staffs and Worcester canal to Autherley Junction where we turn onto the Shropshire Union canal and cruise this cut and fill canal with dramatic cuttings and embankments, passing through Gnossall and Market Drayton. The cruise ends in Nantwich.

 

Cruise 26.
Nantwich - Llangollen .
September 30th - October 7th.
77 Miles, 37 Locks.
Canals- Shropshire Union, Llangollen, Montgomery.
Station - Nantwich.
Leaving Nantwich we turn at Hurleston to cruise the lovely Llangollen canal. We will moor overnight at some of our favourite spots including Wrenbury and Ellesmere. There should be time for a short exploration of the restored Montgomery canal. There is always so much to see and explore on this route. At Chirk the aqueduct is a foretaste of the fabulous Pontcysllte Aqueduct, the cruise ends in Llangollen.

 

Cruise 27.
Llangollen - Chester.
October 7th - 14th.
64 Miles, 33 Locks.
Canals - Llangollen, Shropshire Union .
Station - Ruabon.
A reverse of cruise 26 as far as Hurleston, unfortunately there will not be time to visit the Montgomery canal on this cruise. There we turn northwards and cruise to the fascinating walled city of Chester, where the cruise ends.

 
Cruise 28.
Chester - Manchester .
October 14th - 21st.
70 Miles, 20 Locks.
Canals - Shroppie, Trent & Mersey, Bridgewater.
Station - Chester.
Leaving Chester we will return to Barbridge Junction and turn onto the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union.In Middlewich we will turn onto the Trent and Mersey canal and cruise towards Anderton, unfortunately there will be no time to experience the lift on this trip but there will be time to visit the visitor centre. At Preston Brook we join the Bridgewater canal and cruise through Lymm, to Manchester, where we will moor at Castlefield, with time to visit this wonderful city with it’s shops and museums.
 
Cruise 29
Manchester - Barnoldswick.
October 21st -28th.
67 Miles, 43 Locks.
Canals- Bridgewater, Leeds and Liverpool .
Station- Manchester.

Leaving Manchester, we will cruise to Worsley, crossing the fascinating Bridgewater Swing Aqueduct. We then join the Leeds and Liverpool canal in all it’s autumn beauty, Ascending the mighty locks at Wigan before cruising through some surprisingly rural countryside. The Industrial canal side towns of east Lancashire have many places of historical interest. The cruise ends at Barnoldswick.
